Creating the brand identity and mascot for Onya, a people-to-people logistics service, was an innovative and dynamic journey. Onya, an Australian term meaning “on you,” embodies the essence of community and connection. The service’s unique approach of connecting parcel senders with travelers required a brand identity that conveyed trust, efficiency, and a sense of camaraderie.
The first step was to deeply understand Onya’s service model and its audience. Onya’s primary users are individuals who need to send parcels and travelers willing to deliver them. The brand needed to resonate with both parties, ensuring reliability and a sense of community.
With a clear understanding of the brand’s mission and audience, I began brainstorming ideas. The goal was to create a mascot that embodies the helpful, friendly, and efficient nature of the service. The concept had to evoke trust and the idea of a journey, reflecting the essence of Onya’s service.
The mascot, named “Onya” emerged as a friendly, approachable Meerkat for it’s cooperative spirit. Meerkats are the most social animals on earth, making them the perfect representation of Onya’s logistics service.
